Teaching is a part of my heart and soul. As some would say, it is my “God given talent”.There isn’t anything else I would rather do on a daily basis than invest in the lives of children. This passion led me to major in elementary education with additional endorsements in reading and math. Teaching in the Cleveland School District for 36 years enabled me not only to witness in students that “spark” for learning, but also to celebrate with them big and small accomplishments in their lives. After retiring in 2014, I continued to inspire children to do their very best through personal after school tutoring. Because my passion for teaching continues to burn, I am thankful to God for blessing me with the opportunity to still inspire children by doing my best as a member of the Re >Direct team.

Hi my name is Sandra Kemp wife of Alfred Jr. and mother of two children X’Zavier and Natalia. Proud grandmother of Zanyla and Keemani.I grew up and was educated in the Public Schools in Mound Bayou , Ms. I earned an AA and a BS Degree from Coahoma Community College and Mississippi Valley State University both in Early Childhood Education. I served 20 yrs. as an Educator with the Bolivar County Head Start Program. I met Kym and Phil Schank during one of their volunteer years at Saint Gabriel Mercy Center they came down South from Wisconsin. I found out later they started an after school tutoring program that was designed to help the children in my small community. C2K Ministries mission is great as it teaches and guides every child with improving their education, making sure No Child is Left Behind. They were doing this through love respect and spiritual guidance in a safe healthy and happy environment. I was very delighted when Phil told me that they were considering me in joining the RE>Direct After-School Program Team. I know without a shadow of doubt that my leadership skills and positive attitude will help make a difference in children’s lives forever.

For some reason, I have always felt that education was very important and as a child I had an aunt that worked one year after graduating high school and entered college after that. She was a teacher and I followed in her footsteps and also went to college and pursued a degree. But I watched and learned from her the importance of education such as a fulfilling job as a teacher and helping students.
After graduating high school, all three of my children knew that they would be entering college. Going to college was pushed in the household and was a way for them to pursue a fulfilling career. All three graduated college and I think they are working basically in their field and enjoy what they do. I want the kids in Re-Direct to be encouraged and be pushed to move from elementary, junior high and high school to always move further in life. . Children may live in poverty and must be taught that living in poverty is not their life but they must be taught the way of God and that God wants the best for them..
