Today students learned how to help save a life.
At our Youth CPR, AED and Choking Relief Awareness Day, instructor Kisha Veal led our kids through hands-on training in three skills every family hopes it never needs but is grateful to have: CPR, how to use an AED and what to do when someone is choking.
Learning by Doing
Kisha did not just talk about these skills. She had the students on the floor practicing them. Each student worked with an infant manikin, learning where to place their hands and how to give compressions, then moved on to adult manikins to see how the technique changes. They asked thoughtful questions and encouraged each other the whole way through.
Why It Matters
Emergencies do not wait for an adult to be in the room. A child who knows how to call for help, start compressions or clear a blocked airway can make a real difference for a little brother or sister, a grandparent, a friend or a neighbor. Giving our students these skills is one more way we invest in their confidence and their future, and in the community around them.
Every Student Earned a Certificate
At the end of the day, each student received a certificate of participation. The smiles in these photos say it all.
Thank You, Kisha
Thank you to Kisha Veal for sharing your time, patience and expertise with our students. Days like this are only possible because people in our community choose to invest in our kids. C2k co-founders Kym Schank and Phil Schank could not be prouder of every student who took part.
Help Us Keep Showing Up
C2k Ministries helps students break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by giving them a safe place to grow, learn and gain skills that last a lifetime. If you would like to support more days like this one, give to C2k or reach out to learn how you can volunteer.
